Women's Yoga Tops and Yoga Unitards

These tops offer support and comfort

When it comes to yoga clothing, top choices of women's yoga tops vary by sleeve length, front and back neck line, bodice length and shoulder area design.

A camisole-top style features thinner straps than the banded bra-top style. Your choice will depend on your shoulders and bust size. You do not want loose straps on your yoga top, so be sure that your style choice stays put on you. Do a rotation of Moon Salutation as a strap test before buying.

A cousin to the camisole bra-style and banded bra-style top is the tank top. Always a versatile choice and my personal fave.

Any style top with a rounded, boat neckline and V back can be a nice look and be cool to work in. The sweetheart neck or scoop back is also good. Sleeveless, capped or even 3/4 length sleeves all have their advantages. I find a place for all three, given I live in the frozen north and seek both warmth and coolness in my yoga wear.

A relaxed fit is good, but not so relaxed that your shirt stays on your mat when you lift off. Unless you don't mind tucking in every time you do an inversion pose, you will want to consider the taper of your top's bodice.

The unitard has found it's way into the yoga fashion scene too. As the name suggests, it is a leotard for the whole body. And, pretty much all the neck lines and sleeve lengths for tops are available with a unitard. There's even leg length variation.

You can enjoy a short-legged unitard, a banded camisole unitard, 3/4 sleeve or cross strap back unitard, capri and full length legs in various combinations of each other. Unitards are body hugging.
