Getting your teacher training in another country will not necessarily make you a better yoga teacher. But, travel of any kind adds to our understanding of the world. Living in another culture, while studying yoga, will provide a different depth of appreciation for individual differences, which will add value to your life. This added depth of experience WILL translate in some way, shape or form into your yoga teaching.

Studying yoga in a third world country will help shape your practice. Yoga works to open your heart and helps you cultivate compassion and a sense of loving kindness. The reality of third world conditions will present their own unique learning opportunities for you, which you may not get in your own city or first world country.

It is important to do your research. You will want to determine all the expectations, including the cultural conditions that any overseas training program may have. Be sure to pin down additional expenses that you will be required to cover, besides tuition. Determine details of your living accommodation before arriving. Be sure to get all required inoculations and find out about the areas malaria situation.

Then, correspond with a few graduates from the center to fill in any gaps before signing up.
