Candles

Light up your yoga sanctuary

Candles can add spirituality to your spiritual sanctuary or yoga studio. The soft lighting that candlelight casts can virtually transform any area into a relaxing zone. Just as harsh unnatural lighting gives areas an intense feeling; the soft, warm glow of candlelight can be the key to a contemplative sanctuary.

Aromatherapy candles with a mild scent can provide a rejuvenating, calming and uplifting influence to your meditation and yoga postures, and help direct your focus inward, towards the sacred aspects of life. Choose gently scented aromatherapy candles, so the scent won’t be overpowering and interfere with your yoga practice. Encasing your yoga studio in pleasant candlelight will also make it the ideal place to perform your final relaxation poses.

Light is a powerful symbol of intention. It’s believed that when a candle is lit before prayer, these are the most passionate and heartfelt appeals. Praying and meditating to candlelight is one of the oldest forms of focus and intention. The light of a candle is believed to carry the light of the creator and your inspiration, as one, throughout the universe.

To enhance yoga meditation, place a candle about a foot in front of you. This should be a safe distance from you, yet close enough so that you can see the candle’s light through your posture. Focus on the flame, paying fully attention to its movement, color and the still place at its center. Let your thoughts run free of worry and close your eyes and meditate after staring the flame for a while. With your mind free, your imagination will certainly be inspired in the warmth of the candlelight.

Meditation candles come in a variety of sizes and shapes - including tea light candles, pillar candles and beeswax candles. No matter what the candle is made from, the scent or the burning hours, candles are always inexpensive and affordable. Aside from being used during yoga practice, you can light candles on daily basis to decorate your home.
